Changing the name in your passport
In conversation with a passenger, she revealed that she’s just sent her passport off for renewal and that she’s changed her name back to her maiden name.
“Excuse me! changed your name? to what? …and when were you planning on telling us”?
The point is that changing your name after you have made a booking is not the thing to do. The name on your ticket needs to be the same as the one in your passport so changing it mid flow, so to speak, is going to have undesired effects, to put it mildly.
Unfortunately it does seem to happen all too frequently for my liking, but passengers need to think things through and remember that if you plan to make such a change, wait until you have the passport back before you make a booking.
